Emergency Dental Care USA will be collecting candy for two units of Offutt Air Force Base personnel during its third annual Halloween Candy Buy Back.
The event will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Central Omaha Emergency Dental Care office located at 2605 S. 84th Street. It is sponsored by Michael Obeng, DDS.
“We are honored to partner with Offutt Air Force Base for this candy buy back,” Dr. Obeng said. “We are proud to support our local heroes at Offutt, and we look forward to doing this to thank the troops for their service and bravery.”
Dr. Obeng will buy back prepackaged, unopened candy for $1 per pound, up to 5 pounds of candy per child. Kids will also receive a toothbrush in exchange for their candy.
The candy will be shipped to Operation Gratitude to fill up care packages for service members stationed overseas. These care packages are assembled at the Army National Guard Armory in Van Nuys, California, for safety and security.
Emergency Dental Care USA will request that its candy be sent to two sections of Offutt personnel now serving in southwest Asia:
- The 763rd Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron
- The 763rd Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Unit
Children and parents may also bring letters and pictures with “Thank you” messages for the troops, if they wish. They also can sign poster-sized cards for the units that will receive the candy.
Emergency Dental Care USA is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., including holidays. For more information, call the office at 84th Street office at 402-926-4411.
